Day Twenty three

Day Twenty two
82 Miles - Los Angeles to Carlsbad - I had typical Southern California weather, Sunny and warm - Rode thru Seal Beach and stopped and watched the surfers - Reminded me of my younger days when I use to surf.
Part of my route took me thru 12 miles of Camp Pendleton Marine Base. The bike path follows a road used by tanks and sign read "TANKS HAVE RIGHT OF WAY" Duh! Really? I'm staying at my friends house tonight and head for the border tomorrow.

Day Twenty
40 miles - Malibu to Los Angeles. Easy day - only rode 40 miles mostly on a bike path on the beach. The weather was kind of over cast and cold. I'm at my Dad's house and spending a couple of days with him. I will head for the border on Thursday and be there on Friday. I should be back in Idaho on Monday. One of the good things about California is In & Out Burger! Even with all that I've been eating, I have lost almost 20 pounds.
Day Nineteen
79 Miles - El Capitain to Malibu. Foggy most of the day. After getting through Santa Barbara the route alternated between Bike paths and Pacific Coast Highway. I had a beautiful sunset looking out from tent.
I have got a lot of sun on this trip and my helmet has given me racing stripes. Tomorrow I will be in Los Angeles at my Dads house. I will spend a couple of days with him before heading to the border.

Day Eighteen
75 miles - Pismo Beach to El Capitain State Park - Last night when I was looking for the campground I met John (School Teacher from Fresno) who invited me to set up my tent behind is RV. This was great because I was able to catch up on all the football scores and he even had cinnamon rolls for me in the morning. I have met a lot of nice people on my trip. Today my route took me inland through farm country, mostly strawberry fields. I'm camped at El Capitain State Park about 25 miles north of Santa Barbara.
